Long time Detroit podcasters and bloggers Greg Eno and Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks!
Along with playing the Birthday Game and naming our the Jerk of the
Week, this week's topics include:
Losses to the Bears and Rams have the Detroit Lions at 4-98.
The season is essentially over, so the fan and media blame game has
begun. But who is to blame? Bob Quinn? Matt Patricia? Matthew
Safford? Jim Bob Cooter? Every-damn-one of them?
Considering the staggering amount of dead salary cap money trading
or cutting Stafford would cause, is it even feasible the Lions
would move on from their veteran QB? The sunk cost fallacy is in
play.
All signs point to Cooter being the next sacrificial lamb.
The loss to the Rams means it's been 25 years since the Lions' last
won a division title. Over the decades, every other
NFL franchise has figured it out and had some sort of sustained
success...but not the Lions.
Looking at the team's needs for next season, it appears more like a
rebuild instead of a "culture change".
The Detroit Tigers sign washed up journeyman free agent lefty Matt
Moore to a one-year deal, signaling there will be no accelerating
the rebuild.
Tanking will continue in earnest, with no signs as to when it will
end.
The Tigers also non-tendered a pair of veterans. Moving on from
James McCann was expected, but releasing Alex Wilson definitely was
not.
