The Knee Jerks Podcast - Eno, Nick and Big Al

Jan 28, 2019

Long time Detroit podcasters and bloggers Greg Eno and Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks!

Eno and Big Al return after a holiday hiatus and realize everything in Detroit pro sports, to put it bluntly, sucks.

Along with playing the Birthday Game and naming our the Jerk of the Week, this week's topics include:

It's been over than a 1000 days since a Detroit team won playoff game. When was the last tine the local pro sports scene was THIS bad? Back when Greg and Al were living in the teenage wasteland known as the 1970's with the Dead Wings, the Lions were always mediocre, the Tigers were in full rebuild mode  and the Pistons were completely irrelevant.

The Detroit Lions fire one scapegoat in offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and replace him with former Seattle Seahawks scapegoat and OC Darrell Bevell.

Detroit Tigers' GM Al Avila admits the franchise will not be spending money on free agents for at least another 2-3 seasons. You would not want to be working in Tigers ticket sales when your own team is waving the while flag in January.

Avila also claims there's no takers for all bat, no glove RF Nicholas Castellanos. Reportedly Castellanos' agent has requested the team trade him before the start of spring training. Good luck with that!

The Detroit Pistons' roster has evolved into an All-NBA level Blake Griffin surrounded by a bunch of nincompoops with toxic contracts.

The NBA trade deadline is in 2 weeks, the Pistons have to decide if they should buy, sell or hold. The best solution may be to not do a thing and wait for the bad contracts of Reggie Jackson (who has become the face of all that is wrong with the team) and friends to come off the books, which will take 2 years.

Though they own one of the worst records in the NHL, at least the Detroit Red Wings have a plan, are sticking to it and have begun to develop a core of young players...in spite of the actions of head coach Jeff Blashill.
