GM Al Avila roasted by the Freep: Detroit Free Press beat writer Anthony Fenech stopped lofting softballs and started throwing fastballs at the Tigers’ GM in a scathing opinion piece, taking Avila for his deadline trades being (in Avila’s own words) “pretty good considering the market.”

Deja vu all over again: The Detroit Lions lost their exhibition opener in ugly fashion to the Pats. But should we be concerned about badly losing a game where what few starters that did play were only on the field for a handful of snaps?
NFL exhibition games are a pox upon humanity: The Lions lost 3 players to injury against the Pats, 2 for the season and the other for an indefinite amount of time. all for what is little more than a money grab. NFL teams would be better served to prepare for the season with controlled scrimmages.
