Detroit sports bloggers and podcasters Greg Eno and Big Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks!
This week we welcome back freelance journalist Dave Mesrey. Dave gives us an update on former Tiger Ike Blessitt and the upcoming Second Annual Ike Blessitt Hamtramck Baseball Classic.
Scheduled for October 2nd at Hamtramck Stadium, the event is a daytime doubleheader at Norman "Turkey" Stearnes Field featuring four teams composed of Ike's Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp alumni and players from the Detroit Men's Senior Baseball League. A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Hamtramck Parks Conservancy and the Ike Blessitt Athletic Academy.
Honorary coaches will include former Tigers and 1984 World
Series champs Juan Berenguer and Barbaro Garbey, as well as former
Tigers minor-league pitcher and Walled Lake native Dave Horton.
Plus, legendary Detroit techno DJ Kevin Saunderson, of the
Belleville Three, is expected to lace up his spikes. The in-game
announcer and DJ for sound will be the Godmother of House Music,
Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale.
