Detroit sports bloggers and podcasters Greg Eno and Big Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks!
This week we welcome Ike Blessitt to the show. Ike played for the Detroit Tigers in 1972, and has a long history in the game at every level. Ike has battled through numerous hardships, including his being blackballed by MLB due to an incident with Billy Martin and dealing with baseball's institutional racism and unspoken racial quotas. But Ike has persevered and has a very interesting story to tell. Thanks go out to Dave Mesrey for his help in setting up the interview and for letting the world know about Ike's story.
In the second half of the show, Greg and Al discuss:
The Red Wings and Jeff Blashill part ways after 7 seasons.
Wings GM Steve Yzerman speaks to the media, does his best Dave Dombrowski impression - talks as much as possible without saying much of anything which could give away his plans.
Who will be the next coach of the Red Wings? Greg wants TORTS!
To the relief of everyone, NFL Draft season has mercifully come to an end.
Lions GM Brad Holmes selected Michigan edge Aidan Hutchenson 2nd overall, as expected.
Rebuffed in their attempt to acquire Niners WR Deebo Samuel, the Lions made a very aggressive move in trading up in the first round to draft Alabama WR Jameson Williamson.
At 7-14 overall and coming off a 1-5 road trio, the Tigers have had a very rough and disappointing start to the season. It's been all too similar to 2021, driving home the point that rebuilds are not linear.
The Tigers bullpen has been lights out. Their offense has been powerless. The less said about the Tigers' brutally bad defense, the better.
Miguel Cabrera reached the historic 3000 hit mark, but not without a little controversy involving the Yankees and an intentional walk.
The guys also play The Birthday Game and name a Jerk of the Week.
