The Knee Jerks Podcast - Eno, Nick and Big Al

Jul 13, 2022

Detroit sports bloggers and podcasters Greg Eno and Big Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks!

No guest this week, but on our upcoming July 26th episode, Red Wings radio broadcaster Ken Kal will visit. Ken will discuss the hiring of Derek Lalonde,, Steve Yzerman's recent trades and free agent signings and give us his thoughts on the coming season.

This week our topics include:

The Tigers turn a corner, winning 6 in a row. Then turn another corner, lose 4 straight and fall back to 15 games under .500.

Tigers owner Chris Ilitch claims he's pleased with his team's progress. Is he watching the same Tigers team as the rest of us? What progress?

GM Al Avila had to clean up after Ilitch's foot in mouth moment, saying, "Nobody's happy right now." Yet he still insists the rebuild is over.

Are the Tigers on the verge of having to blow up the roster and try again? Other than potentially Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene, the 40-man roster and the system as of whole appears to be void of MLB caliber position players.

The Tigers have a roster full of 4th outfielders. Isn't it past time to move on from the likes of Victor Reyes, Daz Cameron, Derek Hill, and Willi Castro?

Eduardo Rodriguez remains MIA and (for right or wrong) the Tigers went public with their inability to contact him.

Bally Sports Detroit finally offers cord-cuttters in-market streaming, but that doesn't fix the numerous issues with their broadcast team.

The Red Wings hired Lightning assistant Derek Lalonde as their new head coach.

GM Steve Yzerman dealt for Blues goalie Ville Husso, then inked him to a 3-year contract.

The late Gary Moeller may have had an ignominious ending to his Michigan Wolverines head coaching career, but he deserved far better from the Detroit Lions.

We also play the Birthday Game and name our Jerk of the Week.
